A very nice set of Northland Skis - with very unique Caramel coloring. These skis are in their original condition and are still very sturdy. They feature leather strap style bindings and pointed tips common in this era. The style is a "flat" ski with decorative grooves like the ones in the picture below with the ladies in the car.
The bamboo ski poles have leather grips and are reinforced at the bamboo growth rings by a great looking red plastic ring. The baskets are in good condition.
Northland Ski Manufacturing Company was founded as the C. A. Lund
Company in Hastings, Minnesota by Norwegian-born Christian A. Lund back
in 1911. Skis, Poles, Boots, Bindings, Toboggans, and Snowshoes were
manufactured at Hastings, Minnesota, St. Paul and in Laconia, New
Hampshire. By the mid 1920’s and on into the 1930s, Northland was the
nation’s largest producer of Winter Sporting equipment.
