A fabulous black "health corset" circa 1890s-1900s. This style, featuring straps and cording for structure, was often marketed as a healthier alternative to more standard styles--though this corset does in fact still have some boning. Similar styles were also marketed for young people and for sports.
The front has button closures and it laces in the back. The straps perhaps had some way of fastening at one point, but I cannot find evidence of how, so I'm not sure. They are completely detached in the front. I have seen others like this with buttons that allow the wearer to adjust the length of the straps.
Evidence of some printing on the lining, but it has since worn and I cannot read what it said other than what I believe to be the word "ladies."
I have seen several of these in white but never one in black!

Good condition for its age with some flaws to note:
- Slightly musty odor and has not been cleaned
- Some tears in the fabric, especially around some of the boning channels, some boning exposed (which can actually come in handy if your plan is to have this as a study piece!)
- Some stains in the lining
- The straps don't seem to attach to anything and I cannot find evidence of buttons or clips
- There was a bust alteration made at some point which has not been removed, some remnants of stitching still present
