Beautiful, mid-19th century white cotton dress (skirt and bodice) circa 1850s-1860s with stunning details and lace.
It appears to be totally hand sewn. There is a boned inner bodice that closes with hooks and eyes that would have been quite fitted to the body, and the outer bodice, which closes with tiny dorset buttons, would have been looser like the gorgeous, billowy sleeves.
The cuffs do not have any buttons, and presumably would have been worn with interchangeable buttons/cufflinks. The skirt is also devoid of buttons; it would have attached directly to the bodice, which has buttons in the appropriate places to attach to the buttonholes in the skirt waistband.
The lace and the pleating on this piece are just phenomenal! I wish I could have seen this dress as she was worn by her original owner.

Overall good and sturdy condition for her age with some flaws of note:
- Several stains throughout
- A couple of small holes, the largest being about the size of a dime
- Wear and thinning around some of the buttons
- Some small mends
The cotton is not rotting, and is in good shape overall.
