This is a very interesting dress! The buttons down the back are something I haven't seen much of, but I have seen it on younger ladies' dresses. That, along with the smaller size of this piece, lead me to believe it was likely for a teen.
With the flat front and emphasis on the back of the skirt, my best guess is mid 1860s, but I've included several photos for you to make your own assessment.
It is one piece, bodice and skirt attached. There are velvet buttons down the back and hooks and eyes at the waist. Double darts in the front have boning. The entire dress is lined.
There is a single, deep pocket off the one side of the skirt.

Condition overall is fair to good with some flaws to note:
- Some armpit discoloration
- A few small tears in the silk
- Stains along the hemline
- Faint light spots/discolorations in the silk
- Top button is a different color than the rest
- Missing a hook and eye closure at the waist
- Missing the bottom button
This piece is best for study and display. Not recommended for wearing due to age.
